Our asphalt overlay option is an excellent choice for homeowners looking to achieve a beautiful, new driveway without breaking the bank. However, it’s important to note that not all driveways are suitable for an overlay. Driveways with extensive alligator cracking or what we refer to as “spider cracking” may not qualify for this method. The results of an overlay are visually similar to those of complete driveway removal and replacement. The key difference lies in the fact that we do not remove the entire driveway. Instead, we focus on addressing cracked areas, low spots, and any other issues caused by factors such as tree roots. We carefully remove problem areas by hand down to the base, ensuring that we not only fix the underlying issues causing the cracks but also prevent old cracks from reappearing on the new surface.

Once we have addressed the problematic areas, we turn our attention to the connecting surfaces such as walkways and garage entries. We meticulously remove 1 to 3 feet from all adjoining areas and fill them with new base material to create a seamless transition. Each crack and connection point is rolled and compacted separately to ensure a tight seal.

After completing these essential steps, we apply 3 to 6 inches of hot asphalt, depending on the specific area, to maintain proper slope and drainage. Finally, our team utilizes a 2-ton roller to compact the asphalt, resulting in a brand new, smooth driveway that is built to last.
